ABOUT
This 90 minute class designed to inspire young artists to discover and develop their unique creative voices. In this class, students will embark on a colorful journey through fundamental art concepts and techniques, gaining hands-on experience with a variety of mediums and artistic styles with each class grounded in art history and presenting a famous artist using the technique we will work on. Thursdays 3:30-4:45 Course Highlights: Line Adventures: Students will start by exploring the power of lines, learning how different types of lines can create texture, movement, and emotion in their artwork. Through exercises and experiments, they'll practice using lines to build intricate designs and expressive drawings. Color Theory: Students will continue their exploration with a comprehensive understanding of how colors compliment, blend, and require balance in art. They will practice techniques demonstrated within contemporary and modern artists. Still Life and Portrait Studies: In this segment, students will observe and draw from real-life objects, learning how to capture form, light, and shadow. They'll practice different techniques to render still life compositions with accuracy and creativity. Abstract Exploration: Students will break free from traditional representation and experiment with abstract art. They'll learn about color theory, composition, and how to express emotions and ideas through non-representational forms and bold, imaginative approaches. Landscape Imagination: Students will take their art outdoors (or bring the outdoors in) as they explore landscape drawing and painting. They'll learn about perspective, composition, and how to capture the beauty and essence of natural scenes.
